Biologists investigating deaths of harbor seals

The death of at least 10 harbor seals alarmed biologists who found their carcasses. These shocking deaths in the beaches of New Hampshire, immediately put in action investigations as to why the seals died.  Two of the seals were taken in for an autopsy to check for disease. After more dead seals were found, it became obvious to seek answers to this tragic event since it can definitely affect the species.

Exterminate a species or two, save the planet

Removing a species from an ecosystem, can surprisingly save another. The food web has allowed scientists to observe the interrelationships between animals and their prey. By doing this, they can determine which species is putting in jeopardy the life of another. They can then decide whether or not to relocate a species into another ecosystem in which they would be best suited. Overall ecosystems have shown to be very complex and hard to change, but in the future these methods can be put into more practice to hopefully benefit species and their existence.

Farmland species depend on weeds

Gardeners are typically in a constant battle with weeds in their garden. The fact that they want to eliminate the weeds is obvious since they provide an unpleasant look especially compared to other beautiful flowers. It is surprising though, that many gardeners have not taken in consideration the benefits and importance of weeds. They are extremely valuable to species of birds, insects, and animals. Many flowers and seeds are the production of weeds which is why they are vital in an ecosystem. If farmers would keep this hated plant, they would be observing a variety of seeds for the farm and the animals that feed on them.
